It’s about time we posted about a less well known band, that’s what we’re hear for after all so here is one that caught my ear, the beats are synthy, chilled yet upbeat. It’s a bit different to what we’ve posted in the past but we’re sure that our readers will enjoy this band

”

The lineup: Jonas Bjerre (lead vocals, guitar), Magne Furuholmen (guitar, keyboards), Guy Berryman (bass), Martin Terefe (drums).

The background: Supergroups have long been thought of as the places that rock musicians go when their original bands run out of steam. But there have been some quite good ones in the last decade or so. There was at the end of the 90s the second incarnation of Art of Noise (featuring Trevor Horn, Anne Dudley, Paul Morley, Lol Creme of 10cc and guest rapper Rakim), and more recently there was Damon Albarn’s the Good, the Bad & the Queen. Depending on how conservative your tastes are, Apparitjik will either strike you as a hotchpotch of people you hate, or a strong collection of disparate musicians and studio rats, comprising Guy Berryman of Coldplay, Magne the second most handsome one from A-ha, who have enjoyed something of a critical reappraisal of late, Jonas Bjerre of Danish prog-popsters Mew, and Martin Terefe, who was in 2009 the tenth most successful producer in the US Hot 100 singles chart, just behind Kanye, will.i.am, Max Martin and Dr Luke.

It’s interesting to see who the alpha male is here. Put it this way: you would never know that Berryman was involved. If you’re a fan of Mew’s complex but melodic progscapes and A-ha’s windswept, existentialist techno-pop, you’ll love We Are Here, which is a Mew album in all but name while also recalling the harder moments from the A-ha catalogue”
….
They’ve got ideas, too, have Apparitjik, and bring a conceptual heft to bear on the project. They are, they proclaim, “a collective with cross-field collaborators in the worlds of music, art, fashion, and the scientific community”. And their first public performance took place inside a specially constructed cube inspired by the Bauhaus movement, itself an idea “congruent with the Apparatjik website, also based on a cube, which pays homage to the complex and controversial theories of quantum-theorist Max Tegmark, a quantum-mechanics professor at M.I.T. Boston, USA.” Blimey. You didn’t get that with Beck Bogert & Appice.

Quoted from the Guardian.co.uk – Written by Paul Lester

As i’m sure most of our readers are aware MGMT are to soon release a new album and we wanted you all to have a preview of one of the tracks, the album is due for release on 13th of April and MGMT have announced that it will not contain singles the like of which made the first album so popular. This album has been recorded to listen to as a continuous sequence of tracks (we’re thinking a Metanoia style album?),

Hope you all enjoy Flash Delirium off the new album Congratulations

We’re really pleased to see Vampire Weekend release a new album, the first self titled album was released in January 2008 so they’re well overdue some new material. At last “Contra” has been released, it an enjoyable album, more effects are used on this album, you can clearly hear that Vampire Weekend have developed since there last effort, there are some changes to their sound but they do maintain the same bright and happy vibe that made their first album so enjoyable but with a few slower paced tracks such as such as “Taxi Cab” and “I Think Ur A Contra” thrown in as well.

Overall I would highly recommend this album, enjoy White Sky to hear a preview of the new album.

Vampire Weekend – White Sky

I would recommend purchasing from iTunes as you can get an exclusive bonus track. (click the logo below)

Sorry for the lack of activity and thank you again to all for staying loyal, I’ve recently had to move and I am also doing a Chinese Studies Degree so my free time is sparse at the moment.

However we’ve got some great bands lined up to show you over the next few weeks but the biggest news at the moment is the announcement of our new writer Alexandra, she has previous experience on another blog and should be bringing some new life to ElectroIndie. She has a great taste in music and she’ll also post reviews of live gigs and will give you a preview of more great upcoming bands. We’re still not closing writer positions as of yet so if you are also interested in becoming a writer drop me an email on ross@electroindie.com

Watch this space in the next few days!

The Transients is a band to truly get excited about, based in Perth, Western Australia this band is producing some great electro-indie songs, you can hear clear 80′s synth influence with today’s touch. They’re new single “One Day” has already been picked up and remixed by Kid Kenobi and the team behind The Transients also lead me to believe they will be on to big things, same producer as Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp, guest singer Yasmin Lee (also appeared on Pendulum’s album in Hold your Colour).

“Known for creating catchy melodies with tight polished production, Robert Maszkowski and Béla Inkster dish up everything from pounding gritty basslines, to feel-good pop songs and laidback percussive instrumentals. ”

I urge you to purchase there new EP (click the iTunes button) and give One Day a listen
